I haven't had time to enter many challenges, but being an avid cyclist I couldn't miss this one. I put some time into thinking out the shot and trying to get what I wanted. I don't know whether I succeeded or not. I'm happy with it but not ecstatic. As long as my score isn't dismal I'll be happy.

I have a feeling people won't like the background. I tried to minimize its presence but I don't have time or money to really make something nice.

Thanks for the comments. I knew the backdrop would be an issue, but had no time or $ to do better (no time even to iron the sheet). I was actually outside, but there's a stucco wall and window behind the sheet, so that wasn't an option. Being that I was shooting alone (that's me on the bike), it was impossible to try to do a motion shot. I've actually tried that before and it is impossible to get clipped in and pedaling nicely before the shutter releases. The B&W and posterization on my leg was intended. The set up was the camera on the ground with a chair next to it to toss the shutter release onto once I got on the bike and clipped into the pedals. The light is sun coming from almost directly behind me.

I wish I had more time for challenges so I could do better, but you make do with what you have. At least I learn things from this place.

think about ironing your backdrop.

I like the crop and duotone

I little posterization on the "pistons", and I'm not fond of the wrinkled fabric in the background. I like the comp and the view on this though.

Your backdrop is all wrinkled and it makes my eyes go right to it. The Tone in the Black and White is not that good. I think you need more contrast and adjust the levels of the blacks. Also the title isn't exactly helping your image.

This photograph has a rich range of values.

interesting crop and good sharpness. Only the background distracts a tad to me: looks like a blanket or sheet..

the backdrop needs to be ironed - it's distracting. maybe try this idea outside with a more natural background.

the first thing i saw were the legs of the person. the background is somewhat distracting too.

The wrinkly background detracts from the image. I'd like to see the legs in motion, it looks like he's just doing a trackstand.

That is a beautiful bike, and it looks like the rider is in decent shape, its a shame you couldn't have captured it in motion and color.

nice

My only problem is that you can tell you took this inside with a sheet or cloth as background....I would have either ironed out the wrinkles or taken this same shot outside.

I would have tried to post process a little differently, but basic does not give you to much leeway. 6

I like the use of black and white and the composition, but the wrinkly sheet in the background is distracting.
