 Chimping through my shots from the weekend in Yosemite looking for something that will fit the challenge, this one stood out. I liked how the mist from the falls evens out the light and provides a nice backdrop to the image. With a stronger subject in the center triangle this could be a 6+. But I was alone at the moment, so that lone bare tree will have to do. With that as the focal point, its a bit understated and muted for DPC -- which is sure to keep my recent string of sub-5 scores intact!

ETA: Woot woot! Finally got a ribbon. Needless to say, from my comments above, this was quite the surprise. Thanks for all the kind comments, and faves.

congrats! kindof strange photo with no clear border between foreground and background helped with thin haze, nonetheless it helps for a mood clinching photo. nice nice work

Oh, my Gosh! - what a corking shot! The rocks look wet - I assume from fallout from the falls - I would worry that my camera would get soaked, and go Phut on me. Is this not the situation? I have never been to the falls, and wondered how close you are to the water.

Lovely mysterious look to the pix - and fairly rich contrast, yet misty and subdued in the distant fog - a curious and striking combination - Nicely done!!

Excellent image and the mood is excellent. Though I like the diffused light, I would have liked a bit more contrast on the trunk and the shadowed portions of the rocks. Maybe a resizing issue during PP. Either way, one of my top picks. 7, Good luck!

My fav of the challenge. Captured the dapple perfectly and love the mist and the way the shot naturally splits into 3rd's, love it- added to fav's 10

The light is great, but the composition lacks something interesting. Maybe showing more of the creek in the lower part would have improved the image. Still, 8.

Very misterious atmosphere. I like the way light falls from top and somehow sets and remains on the young leaves. Great composition. I think that maybe bigger DOF bringing details of smaler stones on the right would enhance it, but I love it the way it is.
