 Candid taken around town in Newcastle. This one struck me quite deeply. I played with different crops but somehow the original just works (to me anyway).

Editing: Levels and hue/sat adjustment layers (acid-esque treatment in levels then desaturated a litte), some smart sharpen, a little dodge and burn, noise added and resize.

I had enormous difficulty choosing between this shot and one taken earlier in the month. I know this one is going to absolutely tank (even more so than my outtake!) but I really hope that some at least will like it as much as I do.

POST-CHALLENGE:

Obviously I'm completely ecstatic about the posthumous blue - it's the award I've wanted ever since being here. Thanks so much Don!

Congrats on the very well deserved Posthumous blue. A very powerful image indeed. I visited this one more than once when in voting. At first it struck me as kind of sad, but your title creates a stronger, more positive connection here. It represents (to me, anyway) the bonds that form between people; the bonds that keep us moving on despite obstacles. And I think the composition is just fine. It's a small but brilliant moment caught amongst the realities. You have a great eye and I for one very much you sharing that with us here. Please continue to do so.

This is a nice shot with good emotion. I think it would be cool in B&W instead of the slight color tone. Just my opinion. Nice job though. 6
