This is not a portiat, you failed to meet the objective of the shoot. This is a teribble photograph, the composition of it is lacking, the colors don't blend well, the background is too busy and distracts from the subject, and the subject isn't even facing the camera and he has dandruff. you get a 1 by my vote. |

I don't believe that portraits necessarily have to show the subject's face (there are some excellent examples of back-of-head shots on DPC) but I do think that where you're going to break from the norm and go for something different, you need to have an artistic reason for doing so - in other words you need to communicate something when deliberately not showing the face. This to me, if I'm honest, just looks like a snapshot of the back of someone's head and as such does not work well as a portrait. |

As someone with red hair I find it very offensive that this is what draws your attention. If it was the spiky hair style that drew you ... ? It would need a different title. |

To capture a portrait from behind is a daring idea, but should be then very original and technically perfect.
Otherwise, it looks like a snapshot.
The subject needed also more DOF to better stands out from the background. |
