Again, surprise this didn't score higher, although 5.7 is not too low.

I love how the composition is a bit unexpected, it goes so well with his hint of a smile and the low lighting. It's all a bit out of the box, but very effective.

Wow Alicia, I thought this was a GREAT portrait. I loved the lighting you used and the black and white conversion was absolutely spot on. I have to say that this is the sort of portrait that I would love to be able to take. I cant believe anyone scored this less than a 5 even on DPC

Sod the scores, this is a definite keeper!

Hi Alicia - I like this but I only gave it a 6. This guy has such great life lines and expression, that I would want to see him pop out more from the background. I was looking for a little more contrast or light. Those eyes need to be highlighted because I bet they look really good in person. :)

Curious to read how you lit this. Looks like natural light. In any case, nicely done.

Nice. Subject should be very hapy, a very pleasing portrait. A little off-center throws a curve, though.

I think the idea of lighting is good, but it's underexposed, in my opinion.

I'm a sucker for the dramatic B&W floating head look, strong initial impact. I'd love to see the head a little more off center towards one of the corners, and maybe a little tighter crop.
