 I wanted to creat a blurred background like you would see in a studio. To decrease the clarity of the background I took the shot with her in a shady area and exposed for her face. This made the background light and dreamy. I used f2.8 for a short dof. My main issues in post production were decreasing the impact of the background and keeping the color saturation in my subject. I used mostly curves and levels to achieve this.

cute but blurry! I realize it might be intentional, but the hairs over the arm are in focus and that sort of detracts from the feel

Lovely young lady. Unfortunately this seem to be a little out of focus and the very bright, very out of focus background, brings in a classic example of purple plague.. or green plague in this case.

the joy on her face is unmistakable
i am not fond of the lighting or the exterme softness on her face (where there seems to be much more focus on the hair draped over her arm) but I still love the joy in the image
