- High key conversion (brighten the shadows and all the colors in lightroom and further in photoshop).
- Tweaked tones using curves and exposure adjustment layers (lighten them everywhere except the face).
- Added more hair using the standard grass brush that comes with photoshop.
- Moved rim of hat upward a bit (used a duplicate layer for this and a mask then used the clone tool to fix alignment issues).
- Since I moved up the hat a little I need eyes so I grabbed those from another photo I took of her in a similar pose.
- Added white vignette (used a paintbrush and a mask).
- Did additional spot cloning, blurring, etc to fine tune things a bit.
- Smart sharpen.
- Selective Desaturation.

The After composition is quite dramatic! Wow! Love the high key in which now the textures/pattern in her hat and shirt are really emphasized. The composition of the photo in BOTH original and after is really good with the main subject's face just off the center and the hat poised in the top left corner. In the after composition her dark hair really contrasts with the rest of the shot - it really pops off the page. Also you introduce one other color that really draws the eye's attention first off - that of the red of the lips. It draws our eye immediately to her face and really makes that smile of her's come to center stage. I like this after composition a lot more rather than the yellow toned one for it is clean and simple in it's presentation and hue tones.

What a transformation!!!
I don't normally like the high key stuff, but maybe because it's never taken this far. This WORKS! Really amazing... Thanks for posting this.

I LOVE what you did with this. I have been trying and trying to find hair brushes in PS. Thanks for the tip. I prefer this one to the yellowish one because of the high key. The yellow takes it to another place. Conversion is gorgeous and flawless. From the original, this is a HUGE improvement from the addition of the eyes and hair. Those 2 elements really help to hold this together, IMO.
