How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Daffodils, heart's ease and phlox
Meadowsweet and lady smocks
Gentian, lupin and tall hollyhocks
Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, forget-me-nots
In an English country garden
How many insects come here and go
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Fireflies, moths and bees
Spiders climbing in the trees
Butterflies drift in the gentle breeze
There are snakes, ants that sting
And other creeping things
In an English country garden
How many songbirds fly to and fro
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Bobolink, cuckoo and quail
Tanager and cardinal
Bluebird, lark, thrush and nightingale
There is joy in the spring
When the birds begin to sing
In an English country garden
This shot was taken on a good day for me. I have been struggling with a lot of pain in my head/face/eyes and my energy levels seem to have been zapped just lately but, this day Mum took me out for an hour and I was able to get a few shots in the grounds of a house near here that was having a garden open day :o)
Very basic editing as usual, hue/saturation, contrast, crop, resize, sharpen, add border :o)
No idea what this will score, I am useless at predictions! Whatever happens it feels good that this months Free Study will see our fundraising total creep up a little! :o)

I really expected this to score a LOT better than it did. Perhaps just too quiet for the DPC crowd? Perfectly composed, very serene, wonderful (and not overdone) color, with that yellow and red setting off all that marvelous green. This, I'm sure, would look quite wonderful printed and hung on the wall. Really does evoke "English garden". Tell your Mum thanks for wandering out there with you!
I was really surprised this didn't come in higher - I think it lovely. Have you tried it with a white border rather than the heavy black one - I feel it may compliment the photo better.
224th?! Are the voters crazy? This is lovely, in fact, one of my 10's from the challenge! The small path leading you in, the splashes of color, the freshness and simplicity of the shot are all just perfect. I could sit in the spot you took this from for hours! I'm so glad you were able to get out for a while on such a beautiful day, and hopefully this photo can be a reminder of the good days when you're feeling down. In fact, I think I'll put it in my favorites so that it can cheer me up on those gray days. :)
