 taken with my new Canon 17-40 f4 lens. which is sweet on the 5D!

taken before sunset, looking east. I hadn't really taken any shots for about 2 months, so it was fun getting outside with the camera again.

PP - opened RAW, making small adjustments. cropped and rotated about 0.5 degree. adjustment layers for levels curves. dup layer in multiply mode, with a gradient mask applied. soft light layer to lighten up the foreground rocks and pier (less so). cloned out corner of one ugly rock in bottom left of frame, and a couple of dust specks. lightened up the pier a little. resize, added border. small dose of USM.

Beautiful scene Steve. I love the composition to get the dock crossing the sky. IT looks maybe a tad too saturated in the blues and magenta on my monitor.

this is nice but I think it would be more dramatic if it was the two rocks at the bottom were cropped out

I like this very much. The only negative for me is the lack of detail in the cliffs on the left of the horizon, especially when compared to those to the right.
