Cloned out the misc lights and stuff in the background.
Hue and sat to remove a lot of the reds.
levels.
Convert to B&W
Lots of burn and a little dodge here and there.
Decided I didn't want anything in the background, so I got rid of what was left.
Cloned off the far lamp post.
selective sharpening on the top rail.
resize.
UM
Save for web.

The original had a flat range with dull orange/yellow hues. In the final composition you have done a geat job on the conversion from color to black and white...the dodge & burn really helped boast the dynamic range of tones such that they pop. The way you composed the shot too has strong bones with leading lines that travel from the top left to the bottom right which creates visual interest.

Well done! Nice conversion. I'm not sure whether I like everything removed at the top, but since you looked at it both ways, I'm guessing you're right....

Now that I look at it, I should have completely gotten rid of that far post instead of trying to level it off. Maybe I'll fix it just for giggles.
