These birds move around so much it's hard to get them in focus. It's still a great shot. I especially like how you got the 2 birds interacting |

Too bad about the quality. That's so frustrating when the capture is so wonderful. I find the pileated woodpeckers very hard to shoot. They are always so high up in the trees. I've gotten lots of shots, but none that I am really happy with. |

Tough luck with the camera's lack of cooperation but you got to get a pic of a pretty cool event. I never have any luck finding woodpeckers in the woods who will hold still for a pick. |

You know how it goes, sometimes the camera just doesn't cooperate when you need it to. At least you caught the moment. It's better to have this than to have none. Love the red mohawk hehe. |

Cool little woodpeckers, it's a shame that the focus was off =( |

If you glue a tripod to your jacket, you need to share a picture of the setup with us ;-)
You did catch a great moment and I'm glad you decided to post it. Pileated Woodpeckers are such awesome birds and I'm always excited to get a shot of one, but getting the baby framed by the nest opening is a one in a million shot. |

You almost got it. This is one of the situations where a DSLR has the flexibility to allow you to focus on the subject that you want, or to select the area of the image to focus on in the viewfinder. The camera focused on the little branch in the foreground in this shot.
Like you said, not the best photo, but it is a nice snapshot to share what's going on around your home.
