Sigh. I have herons very close by but can never get close enough with my equipment for this kind of detail. Nice treat to see the eye and that curvy top feather(?) hanging down. Great lighting and DOF to render his body curves against the bg.

Nice detail on the bird. But what I really like is the background -- the lovely tall plants with the yellow flowers and the gently curving leaves.

Nice focus and DOF, he pops against the background nicely. Looks like a good neighbor to have by when you feel the urge to go shoot, nicely done.

Fine detail in the feathers in this shot. The clump of iris in the back makes a good backdrop for the lighter bird, and adds a little dash of different color with the yellow.
The herons there look a lot like the ones here except for the dark patch on the shoulder.

Nice clear shot of a good looking bird, and nice foliage for the backdrop.

The branch entering in the top left corner helps to give a nice sence of depth to the shot.
