Canada Goose at the edge of a pond.
There is a lot I love about this shot: the lighting, the curve of her neck, the framing of the delicate foliage, the way the background foliage seems to subtly point to her, the way she has her beak partially hidden in ladylike modesty. OK, I'm not 100% sure it's a she, but that's what my fantasy-prone mind saw ;-)
ISO was high because I had been shooting her boyfriend, who was actually wandering down a path in the woods. Turned and saw her and just clicked.
PP - converted from RAW, cropped very slightly, levels, dodged eye and neck on her ladyship, reduced noise, resized, sharpened with noise reduction. |

I agree with your comment about the love and ladylike modesty. That's exactly what I thought when I first saw this. |

This is exquisite -- the soft colors, the lovely plants framing the goose, the graceful pose, and the bokeh. It is all so gentle and feminine. Nature is an artist. No, I think it is you who is the artist! |

This goose does seem to have a lady like eloquence about it, love how how her neck curves and as you pointed how she looks like she is shyly hiding her face behind the tree. |

Sometimes thos spur of the moment clicks just work, don't they. Nicely seen. |

Mary - lovely framing and DoF.
The plants make a very nice organic vignette around her helping to firmly place her centre stage.
While Canada Geese are very common they can have a real charm and elegance about the way they hold themselves.
eta - a nice title, especially after reading her story.

Like it exactly as you do! Much charm - the sort of thing we don't always associate with ubiquitous (around here) Canada goose. |

Cool shot, it's like she is sticking her head up to look around! |

This is a great shot. The composition and subject are interesting. Only things I think would help would be more pop in the green colors and if the leaf/branch didn't cover the bill. |
