I like this shot does look a little busy

I really like this one. Should have scored higher. A real old-time feel.

Hi Andy. I like this photo very much. If I'm allowed to make some suggestions. 1st: SEPIA, 2nd It look a little like a partial crop from a bigger photo but this can be from dowsizing too. If it's from downsizing, I think it's maybe from a 5% step dowsizing. the 5% step technique may do a good job for UPSIZING, but for downsizing it's really no good as most photo will come aggressive looking in the details like this one. 3rd If it's possible get your pole in the middle straight, as an anchor in your photo. 4th make a print of that one.

Thanks for all the votes peeps, my highest score to date and plenty of room for improvement :) oh, and look no 1's and only 1x2. I guess I should reshoot this with all your advice taken into account.

Nice shapes but composition distracting, too busy

I'd like a little more contrast, the wheel almost fades into the background.

Good idea and composition. But sort of a dreary b&w rendition.

I checked this pic on 2 different computers and it still looks blurry or over sharpened. I would have prefered to see the shot a little wider and less restricted by the edges (zoom out). <8>

With this shot I can almost smell the earth. I can almost feel the anticipation of the coming of spring with all the new growth. The flowers on the grape vines, the buzz of the bees.

the background has too much stuff. a shalower DOF would halp blend the background

The brightness of this pic stops the viewer from clearly distinguishing objects...more contrast needed. Not quite sure focus is clear on wheel and seems a bit pixellated.

ok... it's a good idea... the title is not exactly the best one (the age is a redundant information) ... the only good thing that i find is the fact that the subject is not dettached from the rest of the scene, it blends in like the grass and the other "participants"; had the shot been a colourful one, this thing wouldn't have happened; also, it is good that the subject was placed so close to the edge of the shot as it has no perspective left... i would say an 8; good job!

This picture reminded me of my childhood. I can remember my father rolling prior to sowing the lawn in our new house. It was all so exciting. So, the good thing about this pciture is that the eye is drawn to the roller and then into the rest of the image and for me the emotions it rekindled.

maybe tilt camera down a notch to see whole drum?

LOTS of DOF! Perhaps it's a bit oversharpened.

I think a tighter crop taken in vertical mode which would remove the clutter on the right of the pic would be better.

Interesting choice of wheel, some nice textures. However, there's just too much detail in this shot that pulls my eye away from the subject and leads to a feeling of compositional chaos. Shot feels oversharpened to me.
