I spent the morning playing with and taking pictures of the cats, and got lots of cute shots. I loved this one because of the intent look on Yoda's face, but even after processing I had the feeling it was missing something so I didn't post it. Then it came to me -- I could add a fairy! So, inspired by Roz's 'white fairy' image, I added a cat fairy (although I guess it looks more like a cat angel...).

I added all sorts of filters on many layers with different opacities blended together. I'm sure I could have achieved the same look with all the layers, but hey, playing is most of the fun for me!

Crop
Color Efex High Key
Color Efex Tonal Contrast
LucisArt Whyeth
Color Efex Bi-color fiter
Color Efex Vignette Blur
All of the above were mixed together, flattened and added as new layer
USM
Copy right eye as layer in screen mode to match left eye, flatten
Virtual Photographer Reminiscing 50% opacity
Flatten and add as new layer
Color Efex Darken/Lighten Center
Layer in soft light mode painted with black to darken edges more
Then create fairy:
It is from three images, one of Yoda when he was a kitten lying on his back, one of some big bird for wings, and one of his tail. I put them together to make the cat fairy, duplicated the layer twice and applied a lot of gaussian blur, then put one blur layer beneath regular fairy and one on top, then erased bits so the feature would stand out more. The stars are just the standard star brush in photoshop. All of this was then flattened, set to screen mode at opacity 85%. Voila, cat fairy! I'm still not totally happy with the fairy, but I'll live with it as a first attempt :-)

Oh, and here's the original image:

And to clarify, regardless of how much food I give him and how chubby he has become, Yoda will eat anything that moves (even a fairy), a throwback response from starting life as a feral kitten I think :-)

LOL. Very nice! Hopefully Yoda didn't eat the fairy afterwards. :P
