Shot during a lull in a series of thunderstorms in the Smokies. Was taken by the yellow light which suddenly bathed everything.

seemingly simple, but just beautiful and well composed. The darker colors at the top of the image add a tension, and also convey the storm and the closeness of those clouds as compared with the distant ones. This image works on many level for me--but I love clouds, so there ya go. 9

this is a lovely image, but i'm afraid it's not really a high contrast image. high contrast has a limited tonal range of high and low tones, with very few intermediate tones. the ultimate high contrast is pure black and white, no greys. the more greys or intermediate tones, the less high contrast it is.
