Taken during a beautiful sunset down at Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Shot with a tripod and shutter release.
Sickens me when I give DPC what I want. Yeah sure, "beautiful picture" - "great colors" - "just makes me say wow!" . Disgusts me that for a photo to do well on DPC it probably has to be over-edited, in my opinion. Like this photo, it has been over edited. The original sunset was a great sunset, but didn't quite have the same saturation or intensity of color you see here. But I feel that if I submitted that as I saw it, it wouldn't score well on DPC because it didn't have enough wow factor.
Oh, and technical perfection is another thing that bothers me. This photo now looks like plastic because of neat image, but if I had left it the way it was I would have got marked down and got comments about it being noisy.
A photo does not have to be technically perfect to be a great image, but it has to be "perfect" to do well on DPC.
Still, I think the image (as I hope most of my images do), speaks of the glory that can be found in all creation. It shines the light of the Creator's beauty.
