Taken in an outdoor aviary at the DC zoo. Mostly the birds stay off the paths but I guess he felt the need for a little admiration so he stepped out on the path and slowly strutted along, looking handsome and knowing it! I would have liked a shot with his whole tail in it but I had the zoom on since I wasn't expecting such a close encounter. Could have cropped tighter but I like the curve of the path and the fence, and the border somehow compensates for missing the rest of the tail IMO. I don't often think borders add to a shot but this one does, for me.
PP - converted from RAW, levels, slight straightening and crop, dodged head, burnt near rock wall and colored more uniformly, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction. |

You did a lovely job with this: my attention is riveted on the sensuous sexy serpentine line of the strut! |

The equipment limitation with the long lens made this work out to be a good shot anyway. I like the compression of the perspective at 100 mm. The line of the border helps to move my attention to the bird as well. Nice colors too. There are people around this area that keep these things for pets. They have a very distinctive call sound, and can be heard from where I live once in a while. |

I like what you did with the stroke. With his tail outside the frame like that it doesn't seem as much like something is missing. It's rather like he is just walking into the image through an open door. |

I love the frame on this - perfect. Normally I would not like the angle, but as usual you have a knack for making pictures work. Perfect title! It all ties together very well. |
