I don't understand why it is focused on the background and not the dog. Good emphasis in b&w.

dog not in focus?

A great portrait against an interesting background. He looks like a guard dog for the complex of buildings.

Too many buildings around to portray solitude for me, so it weakens the idea.

The lighting on this is very nice. I would have preferred the dog to be in sharper focus.

I would have much rather his face be in focus and the background out.

A really nice image, I like the urban setting, and love the dog. A Siberian Husky if I'm not mistaken? The black and white works well, but I feel the focus is a little soft upon the dogs face. Good luck with this entry anyway.

I think I'd like the dof flipped here (background softer, foreground crisper), good use of b&w as it sets the "solitude" stage well

I personaly would rather it if the dog would be in focus. Nice composition though

Did you make the dog out of focus on purpose?

Maybe it was ment to be like this but I would have tried to have the dog in focus (expecially the eyes) and put the background out of focus.
The exposure seems fine and it seems highly contrasted which goes fine in this one.
