Here's your ribbon - display it proudly!

And funny that Peter thinks it's too soft - I think there's too much sharpening near the tree/sky border. I think most landscapes unless richly colored suffer from the 640 pixel size. The other comment I'd offer is that the straight line/centered comp is somewhat static. All that said, I really love the foreground field. I've been trying to get good field shots for some time. A lovely classic of such is zeuszen's entry in the free study.

Jon
The layers created by the grass, the trees, and the sky are well placed and give this the prototypical rule of thirds feel. The church looks like it has a lot of charm and interest, but with the small image size (don't you just hate 640?) the details are mostly lost

I just wonder about the choice of b/w here - were you trying to have the sky and the field look similar as if it is a reflection? If so, I think more details in the grass field are needed to give it the shimmering feel. If not the point, I think a color version may have been a better approach - to highlight the warm summer sky and the glow off the grass.

I really think the main reason for the low-ish score is an overall softness to the image...don't forget that us DPCers need it sharp, sharp, sharp!

Beautiful flowing grass, lovely sky, and nice line of trees holding my focus on the church.

What a shame - no comments. Oh well - I get to be first! How did this look in color? The field in the foreground looks interesting and that's why i ask. I like the details on the trees in the background. Looks pretty rural to me!
