for some reason it doesn't say that Photomatix is illegal, but I remember they made an announcement saying it was and stuff. |

It is? I'm positive I've seen processing details for basic entries that include single RAW files processed in Photomatix.
That would be problematic, since I self-DQ'ed a couple of challenges ago. :-(
edit: I'm not seeing anything in the Basic rules that would indicate Photomatix is prohibited. ??

This shot is great and I am happy it scored so well. But, do you realize that Photomatix Pro is illegal in basic? It is unfortunate becuase Photomatix pro does much the same as Shadows/Highlights does in PS for a single image and shadows/ highlights are allowed in basic...strange huh?

Yep, it is. The RAW file was converted to DNG, and the DNG was tone-mapped in Photomatix. The "curves" adjustment in Photoshop brought out the sky. Of course, that left the foreground painfully over-staurated. :-( |

Yep, it is. The RAW file was converted to DNG, and the DNG was tone-mapped in Photomatix. The "curves" adjustment in Photoshop brought out the sky. Of course, that left the foreground painfully over-staurated. :-( |

the pot of gold can't be far away - the deepness of the golden yellow grasses to offset the blues of the sky really work together |
