I've driven past this factory not to far from my house hundreds of times and always wanted to shoot it. I figured the Sugar challenge was as good an excuse as any to do so. Kind of bummed to find that the "PUR" was burned out on the lights, so instead of saying "Pure Cane Sugar" the factory just says "e Cane Sugar." That detracts from the photo a bit. Had a similar daytime shot that I took when scouting locations, and almost entered that one instead, but I always wanted to shoot it at night so decided to go with this one.
Big risk that some will consider this DNMC, so not expecting this to do great, but a score in the high 5s or 6s would be nice.
This is supposedly one of the biggest sugar factories in the United States, if not the world, processing raw Hawaiian cane sugar into the processed white stuff for your table. (C&H stands for California and Hawaii)
Lots of edits to this one. Edited single RAW file in Lightroom to adjust white balance, exposure, HSL, vibrance, curves, clarity and noise. Adjusted exposure again from -3 to +2.5 and saved as 8 separate TIFF files. Opened in Photomatix and tonemapped with numerous slider adjustments. Exported as TIFF, opened again in Lightroom, and made further adjustments in exposure, vibrance, HSL, curves, noise and sharpness. Exported to PSE5, high pass filter, resize, USM, Neat Image and Gaussian Blur, Border, S4W.

Your image seems a tad overprocessed to my untrained eye. Maybe if you'd focused on the neon sign instead of trying to get the whole building involved?
Clever way to meet the challenge with something different.
Good exposure and technique, would be even better with a more creative angle (or foreground, or something attractive...)
As is, good image though.
