 The Image: I must admit, a great image I saw in a Photography Magazine from the UK inspired this shot. I froze the fish in one of the freezer trays in the fridge and I was hoping that the other three fish would be visible as if there was a chase. It was not to be.

I like the cracks. I wish the ice behaved differently.

The Edit: Mainly levels and colour balance. USM, Noise Reduction. I then applied a layer of black and white with a slight blue tint and pulled back the opacity. I wanted to make this look really cold.

Prediction: ...not sure...


Post: I said I did not know how this would go...it went OK I guess. I know I shouldn't whinge, but boy I wish this was Advanced Editing. This image has much more potential under that ruleset.

I'm fascinated by the textures and details of the ice, and the cold tones. Great shot.

WOW .. !!! .. LOVE IT .. !!
love the muted blue & the feeling of depth .. the fish that emerge from the ice one after the other the longer you look, those excellent cracks, one fish eating another .. a fantastic and different image .. 16 out'v 114 aint bad but i reckon it should'v done heaps better .. :) ..
