This shot was pretty much a fluke: the two inner petals (as opposed to the two outer ones) were upright, and when I thrust my camera close into it towards the center one of these outer petals got between the sun and the poppy centre making a very red cast; stretching the histogram restored some of the colour and definition. Else, slight crop, horizontal flip, USM and slight diddles with contrast etc. (Irfanview).

POST: No comments? Thanks, Crik; beginning to think this needs a rethink.

I'm surprised at no comments. I've been wanting to try something like this where the flower is lit from the back and you capture the inner glow. That part is cool. The trick is how do you get that center part in focus and that's just something I don't know how to do lol. That inner glowy part is gorgeous!

This is a beautiful flower and shot. The color and stamens do make me think of a flame.
A close crop to exclude the bright petal on the left might be something to try.
