The vote breakdown blows my mind. Almost as many really high votes as really low votes.

It was challenging to do this w/o having advanced editing liberties at hand. The pots are a reflective blue ceramic, and the lighting was provided by a softbox. It took 40 or so shots until I got the lighting just right so that the tops of the vases appeared to be rising out of darkness. Probably says more about my lighting skills (or the lack thereof) than anything, but there it is.

I had a similar reaction to the image I posted in this challenge. I like this a lot! It's definitely not too dark in my opinion. It's the type of image that makes me stop and look a little closer at it. Great job!

Just like Judi said...but I gave it an 8. A tad of highlight dodge and this would have been a ten for me. Too bad about the score Dude!

Nice shot. I also had a dark image on this challenge that some did not like. On cheap LCDs this is probably never going to score well, so ignore the 1's and 2's, as they are looking at a different photo thatn the one you submitted. I would hazard to guess a title like "Rising from the Darkness" would be worth 0.3 to 0.5 points. Your current title actually detracts from the photo as the image needs to gain context from the title and currently it only adds confusion.

Really shocked by your final score. I gave you a 10. To me, this was one of the best. Best of luck in the future.

I know you have already heard it....but this is way to dark. I can make out the top of what looks like 3 jugs, and then a tiny bit of the shoulders of them but that is it.

My monitor is calibrated properly. I know this is supposed to be low key, but this is to dark even for that.

Good choice of subjects. Very low contrast. The mouth part of the vases could have been even brighter IMHO.

Had too look at this one for a couple seconds to see the vases. Nicely done and I hope others take the time to see it too. Best of luck. Scott

Could be my monitor but it's very hard to see the subject so I don't really understand the title.
