This is well taken but its someone else's art. As someone said, as a product shot in a catalog, this is perfect; otherwise, it marble on a plain white background. You're not giving anyone any emotional depth in this image. This image of yours
gives me much more emotion and a little bit of you so it is a much better image in my eyes. |

A still life is a composition of inanimate objects. Here you have no composition at all. It's one inanimate object, but since nothing is arranged, it bears little interest. Google still life painting, and still life photography and take a look at the images - that will give you an idea of the concept of still life. |

I don't think the background or the lighting hurt you as both are more than fine. The problem I had with it is it's a statue. You need to do more than just light it well to make it a compelling subject. The composition and POV isn't doing you any favors either. As a product shot in a catelog it's perfect but beyond that it doesn't do anything else to excite the senses. |
