 The overlay is a shot of some mossy bricks. Mostly Multiply and Color Burn blending. I erased the layers to bring out the bird. There's a Curves layer in there somewhere. I think I was trying to get acid, but I got diverted... ;)

The slight diagonal in the overlay makes the image more dynamic.
