One of my least edited entries and it gets DQed. Go figure. A border was added to the left (thick strip), top and right sides (both thin strips). I thought it was distinct enough given the very sharp edges separating it from the actual image and it seemed the the commenters thought so too. I get that a small portion is indistinquishable (i.e. where it fades into the bottom) but I've seen recent entries get validated where much more of the border is like that including an entire side of a border so I thought I was safe here given I showed more of the border than those. Oh well.

I've asked the SC for clarification on 8/11. If I hear back from them I'll update this posting.

Update: Border looked like a structure in the scene (i.e. the thick side) and not a border.

I'll just offer a "huh?" as far as the DQ. Looked like a border to me.

Silly, methinks personally. While I don't much care for the style, it's abundantly clear that it's a border IMNSHO.

I have to confess I don't particularly like the border that much, but I don't think it is really anything other than a border. Sorry about the DQ

Perhaps they consider the one side to be too big? I don't know how this works. Would it be considered a "new element"?

Great shot and a pointless DQ. The border is quite incidental!

Nice photo, Richard. I enjoyed the DQ drama as well. IMO not a DQable offense. Just an artistic choice.

The photo part of the image is rather lovely to look at, but I am less keen on the large black section to the border.
