 SHQ, Shutter Priority (1/1000), Three shot burst. Focused camera on an object about the same distance away before surprising the mallards. Used the bandaid tool and blurring tool to remove a chain link fence in the background.

Very nice bird and high marks in another challenge, but in my oppinion you're a bit off the silhouettes with this one; way too much detail and light on the front. Sorry.

Sorry but not much silhouette in this picture........ To quote the description of the challenge .. "Silhouettes are created by backlit subjects, which causes them to appear solid and without much detail. Take a photo that has a silhouette as part of your composition."

Besides that then this is a good capture and nice details in the bird.

Silhouette ? Update after your P.M. : yes, agree, you have some dark shadow area's without details/color (the head and part of the wing), but still my opinion is that this is far from a silhouette. The duck is mostly well lit in my opinion. Nevertheless a very good catch, tack sharp and nice blurred background.

Nicely caught pic. Perfect timing on the downstroke of his wings but I wouldn't quite call it a silhouette.

This is a fantastic picture.
I love the crisp lines on the wings.
You have done a good job capturing this image.
Unfortunately, i don't think that this brilliant photo meets the challenge of silhouettes.

Great photo of a duck but in no way could this be called a Silhouette. At least on my monitor the whole dock is clear with great detail. It is hard to know what to do when someone putting in a good photo but that seem to ignore the challenge.

this is a great shot -- as for the challenge fit, I do see the silhouetting about the head and neck as the subject is back lit. I feel the loss of detail in that area does qualify it as a silhouette. I've adjusted my earlier score (upwards)

Outstanding photo, not sure if fully falls in the category "silhouette" but it is silhouetted against the background enough for me. Nice how the sun strikes on the back of the duck. Overall compostion great. Good luck. 9
