Took this on the way back from a picnic with my kids at a local historical site. I think it represents serendipity, at least to me, because when I saw them infront of me, all I could think was 'What a Moment, I Must Capture It!' This is my first entry since joining the website.

Thanks for all who commented on my first entry, it really helped. I am new to photography and am very excited about learning all I can from this site.

This is indeed the road leading to the Bunker Hill Covered Bridge, I have a few images of the bridge, but nothing to compare to jimsetzler's:

It´s a nice image but I´m not sure if I get the idea.

Serendipity is a difficult concept to visualize. For me it means being at the right place, at the right time, and being lucky enough to capture something unique. Some of these entries are set up shots trying to illustrate that concept, and some record a serendipitous moment experienced by the photographer themselves. Not sure which this is, but it certainlly has the feeling of being a candid moment. Which makes it all the more successful if it's a set up. A nice composition, and the darkness of the figures against the background is striking.

Lovely shot! Great serendipity. I like like how the image tells a story. It shows great companionship and friendship. Nice job.

I'm not getting where "serendipity" comes into this, and I am not sure that black and white was appropriate.

Let me guess you were visiting somenone and they were going on a picnic... I agree that is a delightful suprise. The pic captures that too. I really like this one. Well done.

Nice feel to this image. Relaxing. Perhaps a bit on the contrasty side.

One of my ribbon picks this challenge - capture the carefree feeling of the pre-picnic walk (suggestions for improvement?? -- I think I'd like to see the sides cropped - the square image suffers a bit from letting my eye wonder to uninteresting parts of the image instead of down the path of the two subjects.)

I would have had the two lads slightly fuller in the frame, and as with most, I cannot really see the serendipity.

Excellent shot, but it doesn't say serendipity to me ... sorry

For some reason, I think this photo needs something else. I'm not sure what. It almost seems like there are too many "little" pieces...the gravel, the leaves, the bare branches. I would like to see some more contrasting texture maybe?

9, very great! Wish the bottom was cropped off a little.

Where's the serendipity aspect?

This is a tad oversharpened for me.

Would have been better if the subjects were not bang in the middle of the frame.
