Greetings from the CC, I think this shot did poorly, partly because was a 'set up' shot many did not feel met challenge. But aside from that, it is a very busy shot, hard to know what to focus on IMO. The DOF is quite good. I think another thing to consider is subject. I think asking yourself if subject will appeal to a large number of people or not, is a good idea (that is not to say if you should not shoot the 'less popular' just don't expect to do well on dpc : )). Generally tho I think this shot would be well, (sorry to say) boring for most folks unless a golfer, I think if you are going to use ordinary subjects you need to find a way via lighting or repition or composition to make it 'wow'. What I would like to see more of find interesting is the coin and money clip tho not sure how they fit into the theme of golf. |

A larger DOF would have helped this photo. |

Like how you used the pencil tip to draw attention to the Hol-in-One. |

It's a reasonably nice composition, but it's under exposed and flat. Also, it seems that your white balance could be adjusted (when shooting the original rather than in photoshop, which would cause the metallic highlights to blow out) so the white of the paper is fully white. I would share the opinion that having numerous items in the frame calls for a longer DOF. Good effort. |

The lack of focus on the divot fixer detracts from the overall effect. In fact, I don't think the object needs to be there at all--it makes for a busy composition without seeming to add any important information. Generally an inventive idea for the challenge. |

Where's the serendipity aspect? |

Good depth of field and nice composition. I really would of liked to have seen what this set up would look loke if you used a flash light or other source to paint it with light. It would have given every thing a nice soft glow. But any way, I still really like the image. |
