Went out on my nightly photo-safari on the ranch armed with a few select props.... After walking all over the ranch looking for the best spot for the shot I ended up back within 150 feet of the house! Had a great walk though. :)

Had great luck with the lighting- absolutely beautiful clouds (and an awesome sunset later) This was by far one of the best resulting shots. Edited with curves, saturation and levels adjustment layers in LAB.

Critique Club Review

Color Saturation and Hue: Colors are rich, but not over saturated. Hues are realistic

Brightness and Contrast: Details are held in the highlights, colors are bright and fresh. Shadow under the shell, may be a tiny bit harsh. A little slower fade to black might be welcome to the eye.

Focus and depth of field: Focus is nice and sharp. Depth of field is a little shallow. The soft foreground is not bad, but the shell itself goes soft, from about the 12 to 4 o'clock area along the edge, and a little to the interior. A smaller aperature would fix this easily.

I like the soft blurry clouds of the sky, but the sky is bright enough to compete with the shell a bit. As this is an advanced editing challenge, darkening the sky just a little would be well within the rules.

As is, this is a very good photo and a nice example of nature's math.

There are so many different concepts in this challenge, this is one I hadn't expected to see. The colours work well.

Good concept for the challenge, but the foreground is distracting.

This could easily win if it was just a little more sharp - nice job. I think it still has a great chance anyway.

Great depth of field, colours, detail and sharpness here. A classic exapmple of Fibinacci at work in nature. Very nice!
