 Thank you everyone for you comments. In case some of you check back to the details, allow me to address a few. Regarding the iron bar, that is actually a staircase as seen in the second image from inside the tower. I included it to give a dungeon like sense but alas, it appears many disagreed. Besides, the shots without the staircase had the door taken on its edge and would have undoubtedly yielded some DMNCs.

Regarding the flash, I used a Canon 430EX at full power attached to a cable. The problem lied more with the fact that the inside of the tower was incredible dark and the outside was bright afternoon light. On top of that, I had to step down the aperture to allow the wall (7' away) and the horizon to be in focus. In other words, I was pretty much at the limits of my gear. I just wish I returned during the golden hours which would have allowed me much more flexibility.

For those curious, the tower is atop a promenade overlooking the Mediterranean about 80 meters above the sea. It was built in the 14th century and used as a lookout for invading ships.

I think this shot is phenomenal! I wish it had placed much higher, I feel it deserved it.

Great shot - I like how the door and doorway is used to show us more than just a door - the view is lovely! I also very much appreciate the details you came back to provide after the challenge. I'd not have known you used a flash so you did it well, in my opinion. Congrats on an excellent placement in this challenge!

Great find and well taken (I would consider a different crop to make the diagonal rail less distracting. Also, maybe using an off-camera fill flash to give the wall a little more volume)
