A few days after getting my D700, I went with my husband to visit our local bird of prey sanctuary, which is a 45 min. drive away. In all the years I’ve lived in Germany, I’ve never been to this place ever, so… the time had come.
Armed with my camera, my heavy Nikkor 70-200mm lens and my 1,4 Kenko converter I tramped around the sanctuary for a couple of hours in the boiling, blinding sunshine. It was a really interesting experience and I took loads of shots, however the only bird I really enjoyed photographing was this patient, scruffy looking vulture who (seemed to) pose just for me, moving his head this way and that and then holding still till I took the shot. It was difficult getting anything decent because of the tight mesh wire (as you can see from the photo), so I was glad he didn’t have any pressing appointments ;-)
After about 20 minutes he very slowly turned his back on me, so I assumed that was the end of the photo session and we left. Of all the pictures I took that day, this was the one I liked best. I know it won't do well but I wanted to show you I'd photographed something that wasn't in my kitchen ;-))

This is interesting Irene. If you do glass and abstracts you win in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. If you try to branch out to something new you drop to 132nd place. I don't understand that.
I would have given this a 10. I really like it

You probably don't hear this often, but this shot is quite underrated in my opinion. I really like the tight crop (which is obviously due to the mesh) and the toning of this. Really nicely done! |
