At lunchtime the 5th graders went across the road to put up some scarecrows they'd made for the rice field there (part of which they'd planted in April or May).

I like the face, and I think it's interesting enough where all the blown out parts could probably just get cropped off with no harm done to the shot as a whole imo.

Can you see one of the scarecrows in the background, or is that a person? I think you've done a a good job given the tricky lighting conditions - if you're out in a field and want to take a shot, it's difficult to just 'magic' some shade out of no-where :)

I love Japan :)

What the other's said. It is a cute pose though, and the little tie under the chin brings you back to her face.

Was the face underexpsed due to the harsh lighting and brought back? The face seems flat and lacks contrast while the hat has blown highlights. When shooting in mid day, find shade to shoot in and then use fill flash to bring out the details.

Great colors -- a fun casual shot. It's overexposed in places (hat and shoulders mainly) and I think it lacks texture from either the harsh lighting or too much noise reduction. F16 might be too small.
