My sister and her hubby live out in the middle of nowhere, which seems to be a prime place for people to dump unwanted animals. This is Buttons, and two of her litter of five.

Beautiful, love the softness (technical... not fuzzy/furry, hehe) of the kitten at the back.

Could this be any cuter?? Love love love your BW conversion as well as the crop. Really excellent photo. I hope they all do well. Humans suck. Well animal dumping humans do.

This is a very emotive portrait of these beautiful cats. Kittens are normally portrayed as sweet innocent things, this image seems to delve deeper and shows a relationship.

Like how the B&W version really brings out the different patterns of the cat/kittens and lawn mixed together, whereas with the color version I see the cat/kittens and the lawn as totally separate entities.

The bug-eyed mother adds nicely to the drama.

Sweet shot and a nice capture of Mum looking protective.

I think having her head cropped out in part makes this shot more dynamic, gives it a sense of immediacy, and especially with the strong b/w contrasts in her face, makes it an effective focal point. I am kitten-susceptible right now for some reason - must look away before it causes me to run out and adopt those two Tuxedos I came across in a Petsmart yesterday. ;)
