Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Safety (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon PowerShot SD870 IS / IXUS 860 IS
Location: Sebring, Florida, in our living room
Date: Sep 11, 2008
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/25
Date Uploaded: Sep 11, 2008

This photo was taken with master lock clipped onto an antique chest, that functions as our living room coffee table. I simply used the black and white feature of the camera. I would like some tips to improve my photography, because I am taking a photography class. Thanks for your time.

B/W definitely made this picture stand out. Good choice and good job!

Does not really say "safety" to me. The angle on the picture is just not right. Also, maybe you should have gone a bit darker on the image.

This would have played better and be more interesting if the b&w were more contrasty and edgy - this is very gray overall.

I don't know why I like this, but I do.

Perhaps it's b/c of its simplicity... minimalist feel. The padlock has a presence about it, and the image gives it am almost 3 dimensional quality. I'd like to think that this would be a top 10 finish, but given it the DPC voters deciding, I would be very surprised if it finishes that well. Anyway, congratulations on an excellent (IMO) image.

The image is rather uninteresting.
Maybe a bit more contrast and a depper DOF would have helped.

I think it could use a little more contrast and I'm wondering what the water drops are all about. I think the photo has better potential but overall works very well in the challenge.

Cant complain too much except for why the drops appeared here out of context:-) A good shot... contrast could have been better... perhaps with a dark colored box in the background?

Simple, but effective.

Definitely conveys the theme, good use of Rule of Thirds and diagonal lines also

Did you have to put water drops on it? Sheesh. Nothing is safe from the water drops!

closer to the lock would have been a little better

Good focus and I like the little water drips on the metal.
