Challenge: Where You Live (Advanced Editing I) Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel Location: Humber River Park, Toronto Date: Apr 24, 2004 Aperture: F8 ISO: 100 Shutter: 1/250 Galleries: Cityscape, Landscape Date Uploaded: Apr 25, 2004

Looking east from the Humber River Park, a 10-minute drive from downtown Toronto seen here in the background. This is the 3rd time that I've used/included the CN Tower in my challenge entries.
Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is Canada's most recognizable and celebrated icon. At a height of 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches), it is the World's Tallest Building, an important telecommunications hub, and the centre of tourism in Toronto.
Behind me are upscale high-rise condominium buildings. I debated whether it would be better to take a photo of the condo buildings or a view of the city. I opted for the city view for 3 reasons (1) I live in Toronto and it's more in the spirit of the rules; (2) I don't live in the condo mentioned above; (3) the view is better.
Shot in raw mode. During conversion to TIFF, I adjusted exposure and contrast.
Post-processing: levels adjustment, colour adjustment, cloned out a couple other people sitting on the far left side of the photo, usm, border.
Canon 28-135mm IS USM at 135mm focal length, circ polarizer, remote, tripod.
One last thing: I don't know the people in the photo. :-)

Great shot of our beautiful city. I've tried this shot so many time, but never get it as clear as your photo. Well done. |

I like much: the originality of this scene with the two persons. The composition.
I like less: -

Fantastic view of Auckland ... err ... Toronto (added in edit). The two fishing figures add scale, story and add a sense of being there. Beautiful! Ten from me.

Why Seattle shots are always appealing, I'll never know... |

Lighting feels a little flat - would prefer the more golden light of early morning or late afternoon. Great foreground interest - I like the horizontal lines of water, waterbreak, water and then the city. Also like the way the people are on the same side as the tall tower - just seems to balance well. |

Great colors! The people really give a sense of scale to this. |

Great depth of field. There seems to be a bluish colour cast, could have been better if shot early morning or just before sunset. |
