Looks more like a hawk than a blue jay. Great capture but it doesn't convey colour to me. Very dramatic shot. |

Black and white is based on contrast and texture to name a couple of components and you seem to have lost a lot of the contrast and texture in the conversion.
If you can process it to get more detail showing on the head and get some brightness in the eyes I think it would be a great improvement. |

I think it's a startling capture -- excellent. For this challenge, I don't think it conveyed color, because I couldn't recognize it as a blue jay. Depending on the mood you are trying to convey, this may or may not be a good b&w conversion. If you are trying to create a scary/ominous mood, you did a very good job -- the sort of thing that might go over well in Grimm Fairy Tales. If you are trying to show a close up of a bird in flight, it is a little dark to make out the details. But if your question is about the score, I would say it is because of the color aspect of the challenge. |

Im not sure thats a blue jay.... even a female
i know bird in flight is hard to get focus on the movement but if you have good light open that fstop up and quicken that shutter!
Nice angle though |
