Lovely sharpness where it matters and colour overall. I think that I'd like to see it cropped a little closer, by losing some of the left-hand side and the top, to put more emphasis on the butterfly itself, yet retaining a sense of context.

Good colors and sharpness, but I'd like to see the subject a bit off center. I'm not sure if it's blown out a just a very white butterfly/moth.

the highlights are a bit blown out, but it's not too distracting, the colors are nice and pleasing, but I would like to see this one with a tighter crop.

Hey Pat, good to hear from you. I like the idea you have going on here, my only critique would be to either come in closer or to crop a little tighter and watch the highlights. I think more detail in the wings and letting the flowers go darker would have really added some pop. Overall though I really like it.

Very good DOF... you've captured quite a bit of detail in the wings here. Very difficult being that they are white. I might have cropped a little more off of the top, but that's just me being picky!

I like the composition with the blurry background and the colorful flowers in front.

Hi Pat - beautiful colour in the flowers. The butterfly seems a little blown out to me with the reflection of the sun off the top of it's wings. Great detail on the underside though and nice DOF with that big lens.

my first reaction: wow the whites are blown out completely. But then I noticed the details in the wings. perfect DOF. well done

hey pat .. been a bit quiet the last month .. i've been in flickr a lot coz hardly anyone notices your photographs here in dpc if they're not in a side or havent done really well in a challenge .. !!..
anyway .. this is excellent .. it looks like spring but i know it isnt .. maybe the last of your butterflies ??..
we're in spring now and there are more and more insects around .. i saw dragonflies for the first time a couple of days ago .. i've been trying to get some macros, bees and small insects on flowers, but because its been windy it makes it very very difficult getting them in focus .. its hard enough when its perfectly still .. but bees for example, you've got maybe three to four seconds tops to get him in the frame, get the focus right and snap him .. if he's blowing around it would be a miracle to get a keeper .. :)
anyway .. hope all's well with you and yours .
probably not the place to write a pm, but i'm sure you dont mind .. :)x
