 I drew a love heart on white paper and stuck it on the wall beside me for this shot, with the intention of cropping out the top half of my face afterward. I know it's not entirely abstract since you can tell it's a face and a love heart but I thought it fitted the bill well enough. I contemplated cloning out that little lick of hair but decided not to bother. I'm fairly pleased with it as it is, though I don't anticipate many others will, since I know not a lot of people care for the bright washed-out look.


Edits: I cropped it, cloned out one or two specks, adjusted brightness using levels, then tweaked the contrast. I denoised twice to help smooth over the pen lines on the heart and then burned it a bit, changed the colour channel to make the photo warmer and added a border to match. I think I may have used sharpen at one stage but I can't quite recall. This is the most I've ever done to a photo as editing's really not my strong suit.

I like the simplicity of this shot, not hugely abstract but certainly emotive. Knowing that its your now the smile is really easy to spot!

A very nice photo. This is my second time around looking at it and I see now somebody asked for validation and you've passed. That's great! (It wasn't me: I NEVER ask even if it's a clear violation. Anyway...) There is lot's of emotion in the photo to me, it is however, lacking in the abstractedness I was hoping to find as well in this challenge. I'll bet it does well anyway as it is very pleasing to the eye.

not exactly what i consider abstract, but definatly an elegant photo that would do well in a portrait challenge. the sharpness of the girl is stunning, especially her lips

I think I would like the heart to be slightly less vibrant so that my attention went more to the lips.
