Paint peeling. Used longish exposure and wiggled my camera. Slight crop, minor tweaks to colour, contrast etc, some medial filter, some USM.

Had a more dramatic version but I used the oilify thingee, and wasn't sure if that would be acceptable.

No idea how this will do. At one time I was excited, but now....

3 hours to go: what a great set of comments! Originally the first 7 were by women, the 8th by posthumous who flattered me by guessing I was cutout. I thought about that a lot - the women thing. As well, I tried to find out more about Helen Frankenthaler. (Will pm Jutilda on this). But what really blew me away was the unidentified commenter who said it was memory OF desire, because that's how I thought of it, and was going to title it. Why didn't I? I guess it didn't have the (literary) resonance of memory and desire.

Here is a link to what this is a picture of, containing a link to the orignal uncropped file: [thumb]728215[/thumb]

It is on the side of an outbuilding near a road I frequently walk. I have photographed it several times but it has never served me. This time I was nearby trying to do something else for the challenge when I remembered it.

An exciting week hoping Melethia was right. Oh, and by the way, the inspiration for wiggling the camera came from Melethis's Ode to Joy!

Hey, Ditto Crik's comments. I liked it the first time I saw it. Very original. Is it really peeling paint? :-)

Just seeing this today. Congrats on this beautiful first page photo. Love the simplicity and colors. You have the hand and eye of the artist with the camera.

I'm glad I stumbled across this again because I saw this during the challenge and wanted to know what it meant. You are wickedly clever for taking a picture of peeling paint lol. I thought it kind of looked like a heart. Congrats on a great score and your new 3rd PB!

This was, for me, the best shot in the challenge, hands down. It truly met the spirit of the challenge and is a lovely photograph as well! I checked this one out first when viewing the thumbnails, then came back to it several times during the challenge voting phase. Great work, my dear! (And glad I could be off some inspiration - that's kinda cool.)

Very artful and a prime example of how art is everywhere, if we would only see it. I too, thought you were cutout. :)

On of the rare in this challenge mixing something purely abstract and conveying emotion too. Teh composition is elegant as well...

Very good. Not many images in this challenge are truly abstract (including mine!). This is fantastic. To me, this is "Memory of Desire".

I must say, it looks very abstract and there is some emotion. I think if it were in black and white, it might have looked quit scary: like the grim reaper.

Beautiful, I really like this. Nice colours; makes me think less of desire and more of romanticism.
