You did a great conversion here. I am not too fond of the huge border though. B&W images usually don't take a lot of size/space so go for filling up the allotted space with your image. The light on the child's face is a little bit too dark, a reflective surface on this side would have remedied that. Her right shoulder is blending into the BG. I actually like the brightness back there behind her head though.

i love this photograph, but i think you are going to get docked points for the...drop shadow effect on the picture, which i think might be illegal, but voting as if its not 8

She does not look pleased! That one beam of light on her cheek looks odd ... almost like makeup.
