No studio.... just the harsh reality of real life. But, I liked this human image. I don't care if it's voted down by the uptight members here.

This image was an artist interpretation of the "glare" of pressure on the young boy. The pressure was epitomized by the almost mug shot glare of flash light on the door behind. It's not a big surprise to me that it was not competitive with studio shots. I don't have a studio lighting situation. I've marked all the responsible comments as "helpful". I wish the site council would give me some relief from "joey", who comments on many of my images, after the contest, in a most insulting manner.

I have not reported "joey" for many months. He is one of the worst aspects of DPC, for me.

EDIT: Oops I didn't see where he honored you in the photographs discription!

Richard must be mellowing out....

...a few months ago he would have danced all over your face for making a comment like this !

I thought better of you than this, for you to stoop to this level because many here do not vote the way you would like them to. I can only say while I do not agree with the majority a lot of the time, when a picture is not good, it's just not good, and this picture is not good. You are more than welcome to report me to SC again, but after they read your comment, I think they will agree this response is deserved.

Such a great model and such a poor location to take the photo. Sorry, but the location is very distracting and ruins a nice photo of a very interesting boy.

Assuming you are short on 'studio' gear, I still think you could have made more of this shot. Moving the kid a foot to the left in front of some empty wall instead of randomly sitting him in front of a door where the hinge sticks up out of his hat would have helped. Cropping the photo so there is more subject and less living room. Asking the kid to look at the camera maybe. Picking up the piece of paper sitting on the floor behind him......

While I wish this photo had a better background to it, I love the feeling you have captured here. I love the fact that his pants are dirty and you can tell he was having a good time playing sheriff.
