The light and DOF highlight his just being there, and his sort of who cares attitude given by the sunglasses. |

Good candid catch. He does seem to be lost in thought, bored or maybe it's just been a long day. I like your b&w here. |

Nice catch! And if they do catch you catching them, go ahead and take a few cheesy shots. You can shoot while talking to them. Sometimes you catch a good non-candid candid out of the bunch. Your B&W processing seems to be pretty good here. |

Not a bad BW. The warm but subdued sepia seems to work. Great subject seen in profile. A little OE on the back. |

Oh you did GREAT!!!! This is awesome. I had to chuckle because I run into the same thing. I love secretly photographing people -- not because I'm afraid to ask them if I can take their picture -- because I do that sometimes too -- but because the minute they know you are taking your picture, they get that posed "Cheeeeeeeeeese(ey)" look on their face, right?
This is such a great slice of life.

street performers are wonderful subjects for these types of shots - it almost seems like this guy is more interested in watching and looking than playing - my guess his money flow suffers because of this...nice capture |

He's obviously looking at something in the distance. Pity he spotted you. |

Ah, Waikiki -- that explains the "shirtless in October." I spent some months in Oahu and loved it. I like your subject and the shallow depth of field works. There's a bit of a problem with burnout where the sun hits his back. Sometimes I think that shows up more in b&w (in a color photo it may be more golden).

NIce lighting on this photo .. like the DOF, adds to the isolation of the character from the b/g - as far as learning how to process b&w, it really depends on what look you are going for and what software you are using - check out the forums as there are some great tutorials there ... I am no expert but would also be willing to share the little I know. |

What a character! If you like my style of black and white processing (not for everyone), I'd be happy to share it with you. Pop me a PM if you're interested. |
