Challenge: Suburbia (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: RIM BlackBerry Curve
Location: Sammamish Highlands Park and Ride
Date: Oct 6, 2008
Aperture: 6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: Oct 7, 2008

Been away for a bit.
While it might not seem like Suburbia, but Sammamish I think typifies the meaning of the word. The actual photo above, eh probably not.

This was shot with the camera phone after I got off the bus at the Park and Ride. Quality is not the best, but eh it is a phone after all. Not sure what the camera settings are (aperture/iso/shutter speed) for this camera phone shot, but really does it matter...

I am happy with the way the picture tunred out. I really enjoy all the fun lines. Probably should have taken a pass in Capture NX, because I just did some minor editing in iPhoto.

Probably score in the mid 4s due to DNMC votes, but hey at least I am contributing again.

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things on DPC.

As the last commenter pointed out, it is the Issaquah Highlands Park and Ride, but only a few blocks away from Sammamish.

Actually, the story is I got on the wrong bus this day, the 218 instead of the 216. After I got off the bus, it started to pour. I haven't been that wet in ages. The umbrella figure is another passenger who is waiting for a pickup (me as well). Luckily he had an umbrella.

Hmm... I think this is Issaquah Highlands, not Sammamish... :)

Oh, this is good! And a camera phone, no less. Really does go to show it ain't the equipment, huh? Welcome back. I really do enjoy your style and it'll be good to see stuff from you again! (Thanks for all the recent comments, too - very much appreciated.)

I really dig this shot. It has a lovely fine art photography feel to it. Should have scored higher imo.

haha look at that. You got a good score and weren't even trying. What I liked about this was the dark silhouette of the person with the umbrella. Almost like they were placed there to represent some kind of symbolism. Nice job. Welcome back!

That's a nice scene. Great shadows, patterns, muted colors. A seven for you.

Well seen and very good shot. Right in the middle of nowhere.

The photo is kinda - well, I don't know. It's just not...vivid? Anyway, I think that aspect of it gives it an even better quality to match the challenge and your title. It seems very ironic, 'Park and Ride' yet there are no cars in the lot - only a solitaire person waiting...10

cool. Love the sepia/B&W treatment here. Does wonders to increase the mood. (althoguh that don't walk sign is red, isn't it.. ;-) I really feel like I"m out there in the rain.

Nice image - I like this a lot - I don't mind that it's not tack sharp as I think this adds to the whole feel of this rather depressing image. I tried cropping this several ways as the composition seemed a little awkward with either too much sky or too much foreground but found nothing helped make it better - I then looked back at your original crop and feel that really is the best way for this image. Yep I really like this one.

Really nice, like how you kept this dark and true to the moment, plays up the concepts of suburban loneliness and isolation quite well.

I like the drama of the weather in this, and the slight bit of red makes it stand out...
