Yep nice shot Bob. I agree with MaryO..I would have given this a 6 also in the upside down challenge, only because it's not technically upside down. Nonetheless the detail and the DOF is good I can't believe that some of the trolls in this site could ever give this a 1 or a 2. Morons!!! |

I like spiders! Not sure why this one scored so low. Perhaps it's the light of the speedlite. Although nice, it can't beat the sun. |

shame you got such a low score for such an excellent macro ..
you really take a risk entering insect, spider and creepy crawly shots in a challenge .. some of the best images can bomb out .. some ppl just arent into them and vote accordingly ..
i love the nearly metallic looking background, so soft and delicate that highlights your spider so well .. love the wispy web surrounding him .. its a great shot .. :) |

Ew; it's hairy and everything! I can practically see blood dripping off of it's fangs!!
It's positioned appropriately for the challenge and I like the DOF and detail (ignoring the fact that it's a SPIDER). I didn't vote in this one, but this looks like a 6 to me. Maybe tilt it a little more to the left and it would make more people think of it as upside down. |

This was one of my faves from the start from a technical point of view and that 9 on the chart was given by me. |

I think it's a great shot. As far as the challenge goes, I didn't vote, but I would lean toward a DNMC score (5-ish) because technically spiders really can't be upside down - unless they were on their back, IMO. Not a blatant DNMC, but I'd put it there with people who rotated their camera or photo 180°. Call me a nitpicking, narrow minded troll. :) |

I really like this photo, great bokeh and the spiderweb fades away awesomely. Voters have issues sometimes... |

Nice macro and the sort of DOF I personally really like (I know some people like the whole "subject" to be in focus but I like this sort of shallow DOF in my macros as I feel it adds interest.
Not sure how it will score though, spiders are not the most voter friendly subject.

I need to figure out where the juicy spiders are in my area. This guy is so cool looking. |
