The road to nowhere? Perhaps that's what suburbia does best.
On the other hand, I could be speaking metaphorical pseudo-philosophical claptrap!
This is, incidentally, a wholly DPC-imperfect model of a shot – unpolished, no wow factor, no 'pop', no composition to speak of, dull subject, not sharp enough, distorted...
We'll see though – I live in hope that one day it won't matter too much.
The imperfect is what I was aiming for here – obscured subjects, awkward viewpoint, centralised subject – where is it all leading? For me it displays the sense that suburbia falls between two stools - neither here nor there. As a result of the chaotic composition one looks everywhere and notices everything. A soup of the mundane.
I expect a mediocre result – like my subject – but I hope that people will respond on a more subconscious level. |

Very interesting photography. I'm not sure about the center composition of the sign. It seems to negate the left side of the image. Still, I like the message in this photograph. 6 |

I rather like this shot - it holds some connection with our cold yorkshire mornings in winter, I suppose. i'm not certain the composition is entirely happy - there's that central line that is a bit clumsy, and the speed of the sweep of curve on the right is perhaps a bit inconclusive - I mean, it takes the eye to a place that is not really comfortable, and so leaves a feeling of an unsatisfactory journey. I like your tonality, but think that little more excitement in the distribution of elements throughout the frame would have more impact.
Similarly, the two cars make a fairly strong eye-catcher in this image - they're brighter, they're familiar, and yet you have them completely obscured by those bushes. I wonder if you've played with your possible angles and compositions enough here - tried shooting from higher, or lower, or a few steps to one side or the other, and then assessed those shots when you got home? It just feels pretty plain to me that you could have found a more satisfying composition ... |

Nice image - Good ol England - How I miss it sometimes! Always good for moody lighting. Like the softness and feel to this. I don't mind the amount of sky too - Think this adds to the pic. |
