I'm disappointed this didn't do better. It's really hard to get a picture of a flying animal! I still think this is a wonderful shot! goodjob! smshats

Sorry about the 5 now that I know a little more. It was a tough shot. I've sat for hours trying to get a good shot of humming birds. It's a back ache. Wasn't sure the bat was real, nor sure about your light. Would fit better another challenge but after looking and thinking about it more I should have given you the 7 not the 5 I gave you. Sorry. There were so many to vote on and comment on I thought I'd never get through. Don't like to vote without telling why I voted what I did. I think each person deserves that much. Otherwise how will he improve and not repeat mistakes. Again sorry about the 5. PTL

Very challenging. I assume you used a flash. I know it would be complicated, but the way nature photographers capture night-life is through a stroboscope, or a presence activated ilumination lamp, and a fixed automatic trigger camera, avoiding the burning effects of a flash bulb. Excellent capture.

Oh god! Is this a real LIVE bat? The picture looks a bit grainy and out of focus. However, I'll give you a 10 on the assumption that this was a live bat, which would make this a real tough shot to shoot.

wow, did you really take this last week? Very Difficult it must have been.
Great shot

Cool subject -- not what I would think to see at a hummingbird feeder. I'm surprised at the little bit of blur since it looks like you shot with a flash. That's about the only thing I can think that would help -- a sharper image.

I don't really like this photo. It's too well lit for a 'dramatically' lit photo IMO. The bat looks really fake. Its not focused well either. - Amendment 10/27 - After further review, I'll bump you up because it's a real bat, but the picture still doesn't do much for me. Plus you bothered to take the time to let me know that, which definitely counts for something in my book. - Inspzil

Is this all made out of food?

cute

How did nyou ever stage this one? Good shot if it is real. Not sure it belongs in this particular challenge. which lowers your score. In the right challenge would be a 7-8.

I never thought of putting out bat feeders

This is an interesting capture... definitely unique! I don't particularly think it fits this challenge very well... there is nothing dramatic about the lighting when the camera flash is used as the source and hits your subject straight on. This challenge is about creative lighting... :) - setzler

I see the effort for the framing and originality. Unfortunatly, uninspiring to me. and framing could be better.4

Great candid shot. If it were in better focus I could rate it higher, but congratulations on a very difficult shot!
