I know this is not so interesting, just an old rusted nails. Taken at our neighbor's backyard (April 29). The fence doesn't look good, so I just focus on the four nails and the tormented wood, showing also every details of the woods surface.

Cropped and resized.
Applied USM, contrast and saturation.

Very interesting subject! I'm wondering if a bit more saturation would have brought out the red in the rust more to help it contrast with the wood its in? Hard to say, but a great image overall.

Do not our mistakes never finally rust away?

Excellent. I will long remember this photo and attempt to rid the world of my mishits as quickly as possible. Small hints of glare but the dark subject requires a lot of light and exposure. Very well done.

A 10. Should easily place in top 10.

I really like the combination of textures. It seems a little over-sharpened.

Great shot. The nails look like worms crawling through the wood.

fits the topic well, a nice variety of textures and color but looks over-sharpened to me

Nice subject, but the oversharpening really hurts. Too bad since I really like the way that top nail blisters the wood.

The lighting is a bit flat. There are too many tiny hot spots in the nails. It could be I'm just not interested in this composition. Sorry...

How about this for a title, "Rusty Wood Worms"

Too "noisy" and pixelated, otherwise I would have rated higher due to good composition.
